The Hudson Valley Regional Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (RCASD), is one of the six Regional Autism Centers in New York State, coordinated by the Center for Autism Related Disorders (CARD)
at  SUNY at Albany. The Center serves the Seven County Lower Hudson Valley Region

Westchester  *   Rockland  *   Putnam   *   Sullivan 
  Ulster   *   Orange   *  Dutchess  

The five other Regional Centers are based in Rochester, Albany, Buffalo, Manhattan and Queens, NY.

The goals of the RCA are to serve as a resource in bringing research and practice together in community settings, and to promote a focus on effective practices for students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).  The activities of the project include education and technical assistance, along with information and resources for school personnel and families.

The project is designed to:

  • improve the quality of services to children with ASD;
  • improve the educational outcomes for children with ASD;
  • increase the likelihood that children with ASD will be educated in regular classrooms with the non-disabled peers, to the maximum extent appropriate; and
  • improve the quality of life for children affected by ASD and their families.
